Wood Turning

The club has available 4 large electronically controlled, variable speed lathes and 2 small Jet lathes. A large Woodfast variable speed lathe has an outrigger attachment to allow large diameter items to be turned. The other large lathes have long beds so longer items can be turned. The small lathes allow members to turn a variety of small items. These lathes are also used for wood turning demonstrations at shows.

The club provides a substantial range of turning tools and accessories that suit a wide variety of turning operations. Several experienced wood turners supervise the workshop on Saturdays and provide advice and assistance for turners with skills from beginner level to more experienced operators. When required, turning courses are offered to suit beginners or inexperienced turners. More specific sessions may also be offered to teach specific turning operations eg. between centres turning; faceplate turning; chuck work; etc.
